Our timescale for preparing repeat prescriptions has been extended to 4 working days. All prescriptions will be sent to a nominated pharmacy. Allow a further 2 working days before attending the pharmacy.
Should you wish to change which pharmacy your prescription goes to, please contact the surgery to advise us of new details.
We also have a dedicated voicemail, which you can contact 24 hours a day. Please only order for one patient during each phone call - phone again for the second patient. Telephone 01224 562882 to leave a message - speak slowly stating:
- Full name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Telephone number
- Names of the medicines or appliances required
We ask that you request only those medicines that are listed on the right hand portion of your prescription. These are the only items that have been approved by the Doctor. In certain circumstances the Doctor may request that you be seen prior to prescribing any more medication.
On occasion you will also be invited for a medication review – this is simply to ensure that you are on the correct drugs for your condition and that you are not experiencing any problems and is a routine part of your care.
We can post your prescription to you if you provide us with a stamped addressed envelope.
Due to strict interpretation of prescribing regulations only GPs can phone prescriptions through to Pharmacies. This will only be done in emergency situations.
Please ensure that you order repeat prescriptions at least one week in advance so that you do not run out of your medicines.
Unused Medicines Campaign Launch
Medicines prescribed by GPs or given through Pharmacy First cost NHS Grampian over £121million during the last financial year. This is in addition to those prescribed or supplied in hospitals.
The key message of this campaign is:
'When it comes to prescriptions... Only order what you need',
with the aim to reduce unavoidable waste having positive financial and environmental impacts.
The campaign increases awareness on avoiding waste, but also on the safe disposal of unused medicines and encourages individuals to consider purchasing over the counter medicines for minor conditions.
NHS Grampian Unused Medicines Web pages have also been produced to support this campaign with additional facts and information. These is available here: Unused Medicines (nhsgrampian.org)
